THE PROPERTY

In the fall of 2017, Project Living Hope purchased 19.5 acres of property for the construction of the King Center.  The location is ideally situated. The property is cradled in a low-lying area with hills protecting it on three sides. It is relatively flat and there aren’t any streams nearby to cause flooding concerns. The ease of access it has to many major cities will, in the unfortunate event of a disaster, mean we are in the best place to make the greatest difference.

THE CAMPUS

The King Center is Project Living Hope’s campus and hub. It is designed as a multi-purpose campus with an educational center, community hall, shop, guesthouses, and sports complex. These buildings will facilitate our ongoing job skills and athletics programs and will also help us to expand our mission of working in disaster preparedness and community development. The King Center is a place for learning, serving, playing, and building relationships as a community.

Progress has proceeded well so far due to several reasons. This includes a committed and focused team with a great vision, continued giving of time, talent, and treasure by volunteers and supporters, and a welcoming community in Haiti. We are thankful for the support, the momentum, and the progress.

VOCATIONAL CENTER

The vocational center will host job skills programs and will serve as a workshop during the construction process. It will also provide a shaded area for Bible training and discipleship with the children and youth in our sports programs.

multipurpose building

The multipurpose building will temporarily house English classes until we are able to build the education center. We will also use the building for staff meetings and other trainings.

Kitchen

Almost finished! In the fall of 2021, Haitian crews began the construction of the kitchen building. The new kitchen will meet so many needs. Not only will it be a much larger and more practical solution for teams and events, it also will be used to prepare staff lunches nearly every day.

Bathroom & Locker Room

The facility includes a men’s side and women’s side each including a multi-stall restroom and a large locker room where players can change before games.

Soccer FieldS

We currently have have two full-sized fields and one smaller, youth field. Because grass would be difficult to grow due to water limitations and extensive field use, we plan to install artificial turf on the fields.

WATER PURIFICATION CENTER

Currently, PLH purchases all of its drinking water, traveling 10 to 15 minutes to refill 30 plus water jugs several times per week. This was nearly impossible to do with the fuel shortage last fall. The PLH Water Purification Center will provide drinking water for our own use, offer the community a local place to refill their gallons at a low price, and create jobs for locals.

Basketball Court

Basketball courts are few and far between in Haiti, though basketball is popular among the youth. The courts will host practices, games, and clinics.

COMING SOON!

THE EDUCATIONAL CENTER

Plans and funds are starting to come together for the first large-scale building! This center will include four fully-equipped, modern classrooms, a library and study hall, a conference room, a computer lab and offices. These spaces will provide valuable education and training to hundreds. We desire to see more people in this community become empowered, able to provide for themselves and their families and lead Haiti into a better future. We have seen firsthand how education and employment opportunities provide life-changing hope and purpose.

or monthly gift to the building fund?

FUTURE BUILDING PROJECTS

Guest House

The guest house will host visiting teams and other guests. It will include several bunk rooms and private rooms as well as a kitchenette, a gathering room and an open-air porch.

Community Hall

The community hall is a large gathering place that will be ideal for community meetings, events, conferences, and, when needed, shelter durning hurricanes and storms.

As God continues to lead us into the future, we have become even more certain of His mission for us here in Haiti.
